The Calendar

The calendar provides a familiar way of seeing events and activities associated with all your courses. When you assign an activity an entry appears on the calendar on the due date for the students to have completed the work. This also appears on the student’s calendar.

You can also create diary entries. These can be general events (e.g. college closures) or an event for a specific course. These will appear on your students’ calendars and are a useful way of informing and alerting students.

There are three calendar views – month, week and day.

Month View

You can move back and forth through months using the arrows (< and >)

The month view allows you to readily see calendar entries for assigned work or events – each appears as a coloured dot. You can use tick boxes to restrict the view to certain types of entry. You may switch between main panel views - week or day - by selecting from the drop down box below the month display.

Week view

The colour-coding for events and assigned work is carried forward to the week view

You can click on the calendar entry to edit the assignment or connect to the assignment report page.

Similarly, calendar events (general and course-specific) can also be viewed and edited

If you click on the column header for a day, the calendar switches to day view.

Day View

The day view is useful when there is more than one entry on a day.

Creating calendar events

The Add event button allows you to create an event for a course or in general. So if you have more than one course you may add course-specific entries, but a general event will be seen by all your students, irrespective of their particular enrolments.
