The test time for Progress is pre-set. This is the recommended setting and means that although learners will work at different rates through the test, the overall time for each section is fixed. Teachers can choose to set individual start dates and times when assigning a Progress test to students, or to disable the timer altogether for learners who require more time. However the benefits of using the recommended setting are:
All Learners complete the test under the same time conditions allowing for comparable results Learners will work through the test in a similar time and so finish at a similar time Learners do not get tired and frustrated if the test takes too long
Sufficient time has been given in each section of the test and this has been confirmed in the development of the test. If a learner is very slow in answering the questions then there may be some impact on the accuracy of the score. If this is the case then this will be reported as an advisory in the gradebook. However as long as students have completed a reasonable number of questions this should not dramatically affect their overall scores.
